About Larry Hill

A short shout from an abstract impressionist:

In the past dozen years I've returned to the reason I'm still alive. I'm back at the easels again, the big ones that line the walls of my studio like they did when I was young and too ignorant to fear the lure of abstract impressionism. So here I am, after sixty some years, still standing in my paint speckled shoes, nothing but my output of work surrounding me, thinking, "Man, it's time I get this stuff out there."

Yeah, I feel I'm on kind of a roll right now. Finally been able to transfer all this energy into something that works. Still drawing a lot. But thinking now more than ever before about color and form, the plush tones and shapes that seduced us back when de Kooning was on stage. So there is some growth, thank the gods, to what I'm up to. Enough to deserve more representation than my efforts can give it? Well, that's up, not to those gods, but to those in the field of exhibiting paintings.

And me? I'm finally just a full time painter.
